Islamic Calligraphy

As a family and cultural heritage enthusiast, and the granddaughter of a revered calligrapher (Hattat Muserref Celebi), I began practicing calligraphy both as a hobby. My initial focus on Islamic Calligraphy soon expanded into a broader interest in the field of type design, and I've integrated it harmoniously with my design works.

The Art of Islamic Calligraphy: Hat

_______ Currently, I hold certificates in Riq'ah, Diwani, and Diwani Jeli styles. I create my pieces in both traditional and modern mediums, employing pen, ink, and paper as well as digital tools like the iPad. My work mainly consists of small pieces, but I am planning to evolve into creating more intricate and valuable works of art.

_______ Recently, I've started the process of digitizing these calligraphic elements into a font, using Adobe Illustrator, Glyphs 3 and Procreate softwares. The process is still in its developmental stage, but it marks the beginning of my longer-term plans to specialize in type design and create my own unique fonts.
